It was 12AM on my wedding night, the DJ announced last dance, and it suddenly hit me - I didn't have anyone scheduled to clean this venue up...
Thankfully, no matter how sober (or not sober) the wedding guests that remained were, everyone pitched in to help take down decor, remove floral and vases, pack up everything we had hauled in that morning, and we were out before our venue time ran out! Whew!
I had never been a bride before... and, aside from a "wedding day checklist" I followed to a tee, I had no idea what a wedding day needed or didn't need from an operational & venue standpoint. Because that wasn't my specialty, photography was. And, even with all the ins and outs I'd learned from photographing countless weddings, I didn't know how to do the job of the wedding planner, or the DJ, or the caterer, etc.
I'm telling you this story, because 1) I don't want anything like this to happen to you, and 2) It's my way of saying, planning a wedding is 50% you and your partner, your vendor selections, and your prep work. The other 50% is trusting the vendors you've hand picked to take your wedding day from a vision to reality.
That's exactly what I'm here to do for your wedding day photography.
My Approach to Timeless, True-to-Color Wedding Photography
As your photographer, my job is to tell your story. Not to create one of my own.
I have always been a creative individual, and that really comes through in my detail photos, the angles I choose to shoot from, and how I use the light around you. Without trying to sound too cliché... I'm telling your story, just through my lens.
What I love so much about wedding photography is the love. Your love. And the story that you've come from, the people that made you who you are, and how you've chosen to express that on this beautiful and exciting day! I know how much attention, energy, and time you've put into every little detail and I want to make sure I not only capture it, but capture it beautifully.
I also want you to be able to come back to your wedding gallery, your album, and any wall art you choose to display, 10+ years from now and see them as they were. I want the flower colors you selected so carefully to be true, I want your skin tones to look beautiful and real, and I want the details to be captured artfully and as they were in the moment.
All of these standards I hold myself to help to give my clients the best wedding day images possible.
That's what I want for you, and that's what I'm here to deliver!
How I Help Couples Feel Comfortable and Supported Throughout the Day
I've always been somebody that blends well. I love to observe, watch interactions unfold, and find the best angles to capture a unique moment. For lack of a better phrase, I love being a fly on the wall!
This is perfect for the getting ready moments where true emotions and excitement begin to show, during the first look or ceremony where your only focus should be your partner and the people around you, and during the cocktail hour and reception you've spent months/years prepping for and finally get to enjoy!
I have also learned (from my amazing, confident & creative Mom) how to lead and execute in a calm and positive manner.
This is best put on display while wrangling all the extended family members for that one large group photo, or making sure your wedding party knows exactly what they need to be doing and where they need to be for amazing bridal party portraits, and finally, while communicating to you and your partner the poses that photograph best during bride and groom or sunset portraits.
I love to tell my couples that I am chill and go with the flow... as long as we have a plan! This means, we deep dive into your day. The wedding vision, the portraits and details you want captured, the list of must-have family photos, and creating a detailed timeline together based on what's actually important to you.
When we go into your wedding day with this much detail, it means I know exactly what photos to shift into if hair and makeup are running behind, I know to ask once sunset rolls around, "Hey, are you guys feeling up for this? Or would you rather go celebrate with your people?" I know that getting a photo of grandma crying during speeches is high on your priority list, and that we have extra time buffered in if your groomsmen aren't ready exactly when they're supposed to be (because are they ever?).
So many of my couples have expressed that I brought calm into their day, and that is probably one of the highest compliments I could receive.
"Jagger makes me feel so comfortable." -Kat & Joe, Milwaukee University Club
"Jagger made everything feel natural and easy. Working with Jagger and her team felt less like working with vendors and more like spending time with friends. They created such a comfortable, relaxed environment that allowed us to truly be ourselves. Jagger took the time to listen to what we wanted—and just as importantly, what we didn't want—and made sure our photos reflected us as a couple." -Megan & Jarrid, Abella Weddings & Events
"Jagger made us feel so comfortable and helped us to capture some extremely precious moments in our lives!" -Haley & Reed, Rochester Country Club
At the end of the day, my goal is to help guide your wedding day along as you envisioned it. Bringing a relaxed & prepared presence is always my goal. And finally, I pray before every wedding that I'm able to capture your day in a way that honors you, your partner & your families.
